Description

Apple tree Reinette Tramp

The Reinette Clochard apple tree, also called “Reinette de Parthenay”, is an old variety from Secondigny (Deux-Sèvres). Very popular in the western regions of France (Poitou, Vendée, Charentes), it is appreciated for its hardiness, its regular production and the exceptional quality of its fruit. It is part of the French fruit heritage and is still widely cultivated in traditional orchards.

Reinette Tramp Features

The fruit is medium to large, slightly flattened, with a rough skin, golden yellow in colour with brown lenticels. Its flesh is fine, white, juicy and very sweet with a slight acidic note, typical of Reinettes. Its melting and fragrant texture makes it an excellent table and processing apple.

It is also distinguished by its very good shelf life: the apples can be stored in good conditions until the end of February, or even March, without losing their taste quality.

Cultivation and maintenance

The Reinette Clochard apple tree is vigorous and easy to grow. It appreciates deep, well-drained, slightly calcareous soils and a sunny exposure. It tolerates the winter cold well (down to -30 °C) thanks to its mid-late flowering, less exposed to spring frosts.

Fruit setting is regular. Annual pruning at the end of winter will maintain a good balance of the framework and aerate the branches to limit diseases. It shows a relative resistance to scab, which makes it a variety suitable for a crop with little or no treatment.

For good fruiting, it is important to combine the Reinette Crampard with other compatible pollinator varieties.

Use in cooking

  • To eat : melting texture and delicate fragrance
  • Baking : excellent hold for pies, compotes and cakes
  • In juice : very juicy apple, producing a sweet and fragrant juice
