All about the Reinette de Chênée apple tree
The Reinette de Chênée apple tree is a beautiful heirloom apple with a particular aroma, with an orange-yellow colour. Originally from Chênée in Belgium, it was described before 1872 by the nurseryman Descardre. This variety is very common and recommended for its taste quality.
Characteristics of the fruit
The fruit is medium-sized (60-80 mm), with a round, conical shape, often irregular. The epidermis is green-yellow with orange hues, rough all over. The flesh is yellowish, firm and juicy, with a strong aroma and a good sugar-acidity balance.
Use of the fruit
The Reinette de Chênée is mainly used for the table. It is harvested in mid-October and keeps well until November-December.

The tree has a strong vigour in its young years and then moderate thereafter. It has a fairly open bush habit.

- Fertility: Good productivity, but great diversity in fruit size.

The Reinette de Chênée is distinguished by its well-marked green sepals. Not to be confused with the Reinette de France or the Reinette de Blenheim which also have this characteristic but are larger.
