The Lebrun Buttered Pear Tree, also known by the synonyms of Le Brun and Le Brun Butter, is a variety of pear created by Mr. Gueniot in Troyes in 1856. This pear is distinguished by its cylindrical-conical shape, very elongated and bumpy, with a greenish-yellow epidermis finely dotted with fawn. Its yellowish-white flesh is fine, firm, melt-in-the-mouth and juicy, offering a sweet and fragrant flavor that makes it an excellent choice for fresh consumption.
‘Beurré Lebrun’ is a vigorous and fertile tree that should be grafted onto quince for best performance. It is adapted to a trellised or pyramided direction, but should not be raised on stems because the fruits tend to detach before they are fully ripe. This strain is resistant to scab, making it easier to care for and increasing its appeal to growers.
Choosing the Beurré Lebrun pear tree is ideal for pear lovers who are looking for a variety that is both resistant and delicious. Its ability to grow well on quince and its natural resistance to key diseases make it a sustainable and low-care option. The exquisite flavor and pleasant texture of its fruits make it a valuable addition to any fruit garden.
