The Baguette Violette apple tree is a very local production variety from the Thiérache. Rustic and heritage, this variety is particularly adapted to this region and deserves to be tried for its resistance and taste qualities.

Characteristics of the fruit

The fruit is medium to large (70 mm) and has a rounded, flattened shape with a homogeneous outline. The epidermis is smooth, green-yellow in color with purple shades. The flesh has a good balance of sugar and acidity, becoming mealy as the acidity drops.

Use of the fruit

The Violet Baguette is ideal as a knife apple and for baking. It is harvested during the second half of September and reaches its maturity for consumption in October-November.

The tree is characterized by long fruit-bearing branches that arch strongly under the weight of the apples, giving the wood a bare appearance and the habit a lanky appearance.
