Walnut Tree Purchase: Majestic Trees for Your Orchard
The walnut tree is an exceptional tree that combines magnificence and productivity. A large tree that can reach 20 to 25 meters in height, it not only offers generous shade in summer but also produces delicious and nutritious nuts. Cultivated for thousands of years for its fruit, its precious wood and its medicinal properties, the walnut tree naturally finds its place in large gardens and orchards.
Why Plant a Walnut Tree?
Walnut trees have many advantages:

Abundant production of fruits rich in omega-3 and antioxidants
Appreciable summer shade
Wood highly sought after in cabinetmaking
Exceptional longevity (over 100 years)
Minimal maintenance once established
Resistance to diseases and pests

Choosing your Walnut tree
To successfully plant a walnut tree, several criteria must be taken into account:
The available space
Provide sufficient space for its development: at least 12 metres between each tree. The walnut tree needs space to flourish and produce abundantly.
Climate
Walnut trees are hardy and adapt well to most French regions. They tolerate the winter cold but fear late frosts which can damage the young shoots in spring.
The type of soil
These trees prefer deep, cool, well-drained soils. They tolerate different types of soil but fear soils that are too wet or too calcareous.
Available Varieties
We offer several varieties of walnut trees selected for their adaptation to different climates and their taste qualities:

Franquette walnut : Traditional French variety, hardy and productive
Parisienne Walnut: Quality fruit, fast fruiting
Mayette Walnut: Large walnuts with a fine taste

Planting and Maintenance
Planting is carried out from November to March, except during the frost period. To ensure a good recovery:

Dig a hole that is wide and deep enough (1m x 1m)
Enrich the soil with compost
Install a sturdy stake when planting
Water regularly for the first few years

Harvesting and Preservation
Walnuts are traditionally harvested at the end of September-beginning of October, when the husk begins to split. They can be kept for several months in a cool, dry and ventilated place, making walnut a great investment for food self-sufficiency.

Good to know: A walnut tree begins to produce significantly from 7-8 years old and can continue for several decades. Its production can reach 50 to 100 kg of nuts per year in adulthood.

Uses
Nuts can be eaten:

Fresh from harvest
Dried throughout the year
In pastry and cooking
For oil production
