The Brugnon Blanc peach tree is an old variety of white nectarine that is particularly appreciated for its sweet and fragrant taste. This summer fruit with a smooth, light skin is distinguished by its delicate appearance and its melting, very aromatic flesh. It is often grown for fresh consumption, directly from the tree or in fruit salad.
This Brugnon is a medium-sized fruit with pale pearly yellow skin and is very aesthetic. Its dense cream flesh offers a pleasant, sweet and slightly acidic texture, with a strong fragrance. Its core is adherent, which distinguishes it from other free-stone varieties. Very popular on the palate, it seduces lovers of subtle and summery flavors.
The Brugnon Blanc peach tree is a vigorous, closed-habit tree that adapts well to sunny climates. It requires well-drained, fertile soil and a south-facing exposure to produce in abundance. It is very gradually susceptible to blistering, which makes it an interesting choice for organic or sustainable farming.
To promote production and limit blistering, it is advisable to practice aerated pruning at the end of winter. Treatments based on horsetail decoction or copper as a preventive measure can be used if necessary.
Ideal for fresh consumption, white brugnon is also excellent in pies or sweet jams. It goes perfectly in an orchard with other varieties with similar flowering to diversify the harvests.
To enrich your orchard, you can combine it with the Roussane de Juillet peach tree or the Grosse Mignonne peach, which will extend the fruit season.
Brugnon Blanc is a hardy variety, which adapts well to different French regions as long as late frosts are rare. Its tolerance to blistering and its mid-late flowering make it an asset for amateur gardeners or producers looking for fruit diversity.
