The Mireille peach tree is a remarkable American variety that has conquered French orchards thanks to its exceptional qualities. Known for its very large fruits and juicy white flesh of excellent taste quality, this variety combines productivity and resistance. Its late flowering allows it to escape spring frosts, making it a preferred choice for regions with capricious springs.
The fruits of the Mireille peach tree are distinguished by their impressive size, among the largest on the market. The velvety skin, well coloured red on a cream background, contains exceptionally juicy and tasty white flesh. The texture has a medium firmness, ideal for fresh consumption or culinary processing.
This variety has major agronomic advantages:
The Mireille peach tree adapts to a wide range of soils, favouring well-drained, cool to dry, even stony soils. It particularly appreciates ordinary to rich soils without stagnant moisture. Its exceptional vigour allows for easy adaptation to different growing conditions.
The choice of rootstock influences the development of the tree:
| 🌱 GF677 | Deep, fertile soils, strong vigour, stem and half-stem |
| 🌿 Montclar (Missour) | Superficial or less fertile soils, medium vigour, low-stem |
| 🍃 Rubira | Calcareous soils, low to medium vigour, easy to grow |
Planting is ideally done from November to March, avoiding periods of frost. A contribution of compost in the autumn and specific fertiliser in the spring will promote development and fruiting.
The Mireille peach, like all peach trees, benefits greatly from annual pruning. This operation, carried out during the vegetative dormancy period (February-March), makes it possible to:
Fruiting pruning consists of shortening the branches that have borne fruit and removing dead wood. The very vigorous Mireille tree requires special attention to control its development.
The Mireille peach tree is self-fertile, guaranteeing production even when planted alone. However, the presence of other varieties of peach trees significantly improves the yield and quality of the fruit. Its late flowering matches perfectly with other late varieties.
To create a diverse orchard, combine Mireille with the Queen of the Orchards peach tree for optimal cross-pollination. Complete with the Grosse Mignonne peach tree to stagger the harvests.
To vary the fruit pleasures, also plant the Bergeron apricot tree or the Queen Claude Dorée plum tree to enjoy a succession of summer harvests.
The Mireille peach tree is harvested in mid-August, when the fruits are well coloured and give way slightly under the pressure of the finger. Very large fruits sometimes require early thinning to ensure optimal quality.
The juicy and sweet white flesh of Mireille lends itself to multiple preparations:
The exceptional size of the fruit allows for spectacular presentations, especially for poached peaches or individual desserts.
The Mireille peach tree has a unique combination of assets that make it a variety of choices:
This exceptional American variety combines all the criteria sought: productivity, resistance, caliber and taste quality. Its late flowering makes it a safe choice for all regions, especially those prone to late frosts.
