Technical characteristics of the Quetsche d’Alsace – Altesse Simple

The plum tree Quetsche d’Alsace, also known as Altesse Simple and Prune de Namur, is a robust fruit tree that has its historical roots from Alsace to Belgium. This plum tree produces delicious plums, sweet with a pleasant hint of acidity, ideal for both direct consumption and cooking, especially for drying in prunes. Thanks to its good resistance to disease, this tree is an excellent choice for gardeners looking to minimize plant protection care.

Specific benefits:

Pollination: Pollinates well with varieties such as Reine Claude Dorée and Goutte d’Or, allowing for an extended season of quality plums.
Rootstock: Available on rootstocks of various vigours to adapt to different soil types and climatic conditions.

Planting and care tips:

Planting: When you get it, make sure you don’t let the roots dry out. Plant in a hole 50 cm on each side and the depth of a spade, without burying the graft point. Water copiously after planting for a good establishment.
Care: Keep the area around the tree weeded and water regularly in case of drought to promote optimal growth in the first year.

The Plum Quetsche d’Alsace is perfect for those who appreciate fruits that are both sweet and slightly tart, and who are looking for a variety with a rich history and easy cultivation. Its disease resistance and ease of cultivation make it an ideal addition to any orchard.
