Pluot Aprimira, also known as Miracot (MIRAbelle + apricot), is an exceptional hybrid fruit developed in 1994 at the Geisenheim Research Station in Germany. This revolutionary botanical creation is the result of the cross between the “Von Herrenhausen” mirabelle plum and the “Orangered” apricot tree, thus combining the best of both fruit worlds.
This self-fertile variety produces medium-sized fruits resembling small apricots, with a golden-yellow skin adorned with red spots. Its firm, juicy and extraordinarily fragrant flesh offers a unique flavour combining the sweetness of mirabelle plum with the intense aroma of apricot. The fruit is distinguished by its free stone that is easily detached from the flesh.

🇩🇪 Geographical origin: Pluot Aprimira was born in 1994 at the prestigious Geisenheim research station in Germany, located in the Rheingau wine region of Hesse. This applied research institution, founded in 1872, is recognized worldwide for its innovations in fruit growing.
This German creation represents a major breakthrough in the hybridization of stone fruits, demonstrating the excellence of European agricultural research. The development of Aprimira is part of a varietal improvement process aimed at creating tastier fruit that is better adapted to temperate climates.
🌿 Major advantage: Aprimira is self-fertile, which means that it can produce fruit without requiring the presence of other pollinating varieties. This feature makes it an ideal choice for small gardens.
Recommended pollinators to optimize production:
Aprimira requires a very sunny exposure to fully develop its aromas. It adapts to a wide range of neutral, light, deep and well-drained soils. Avoid heavy, clay or calcareous soils that can compromise its development.
Planting is best done in autumn (October to December) outside of frost periods. Choose a location sheltered from the cold north winds, ideally near a south-facing wall.
During the first three years, watering must be regular to keep the soil cool all summer long. Adding manure in the spring by scratching the surface promotes growth and fruiting.
🌳 Habit and dimensions: The Aprimira is a medium-sized tree (3 to 3.5 metres at maturity) with a naturally flared habit, perfectly adapted to small gardens and confined spaces.
