🌱 Planting

💧 Watering and fertilizing

Regular watering is necessary the first year after planting. Once established, the tree tolerates drought well. Bring a fruit tree fertilizer in the spring to support fruiting.

✂️ Size

Pruning is not essential, but training pruning in the first few years and thinning of the crown every two years in March promote the circulation of light and the quality of the fruit.

Harvesting and storage

The harvest takes place in October when the fruits display their beautiful golden yellow color and give off their characteristic fragrance. Quinces can be kept for 2 to 3 months in a cool place, away from other fruits to avoid being impregnated by the strong aroma of quince.

📦 Storage tip : store quinces in a cool, ventilated room, avoiding contact with other fruits.

Pollination and association

Although self-fertile, the yield of the Ludovic quince can be improved by cross-pollination. To optimize production, combine it with the Portuguese Quince or the Leskovacz Quince.
