Fruit and tree characteristics
The Pierre apple is a large-sized, flattened fruit. Its epidermis is shiny, a beautiful pale yellow colour with red-orange spotting. Its flesh is yellow, firm, moderately juicy, with a pleasant balance between acidity and a very sweet flavor, all accompanied by a distinctive fragrance. Cultivation and maintenance
The Apple Stone is an undemanding variety that adapts to many types of soil, as long as they are well drained. A sunny exposure is preferable to guarantee good ripening and colouring of the fruit. Planting is ideally done in autumn or early spring.
Although hardy and not very susceptible to diseases, regular maintenance pruning will promote better fruiting and maintain the vigour of the tree. Despite its high fertility, fruit thinning can be considered to obtain larger apples.
For optimal cross-pollination, pair it with the Canadian Grey Reinette Apple.
