The Kortrijk Pineapple Pear Tree, also known by its historical name from the Kortrijk region of Belgium, is a variety that has been cultivated since the mid-eighteenth century. This pear tree produces good-sized, ovoid to pyriform fruits depending on the growing conditions, with a green-herbaceous epidermis that turns lemon-yellow when ripe, adorned with red and grey-white touches depending on the exposure to the sun.
‘Ananas de Courtrai’ is a fairly vigorous and very fertile tree, well adapted to pyramidal shapes, open wind, and espalier. It has long, slender fruit branches, with a smooth and shiny epidermis. This variety is suitable for a diverse crop and is resistant to various environmental conditions.
The choice of the Kortrijk Pineapple Pear Tree is ideal for goldsmiths and pear lovers who are looking for a variety with a rich history and top quality fruit. Its ability to be grown in various forms and ease of adaptation make it an excellent choice for diverse gardens. In addition, the staggered harvest method proposed for this variety maximizes the availability of high-quality fruit throughout the season.
