Characteristics of the fruit

• Size: Medium to fairly large (65-75 mm)
• Shape: Rounded, slightly flattened at the ends
• Color: Pale yellow, slightly washed with pink in sunstroke
• Flesh: White, fine, firm and crunchy
• Taste: Sweet, sweet with a hint of acidity, very fragrant
• Use: To eat, in a pie, compote or juice

Choosing the rootstock

• B9 (adult height≈ 2m): Ideal for small spaces, well-drained soil
• M9 (adult size ≈ 2.5m): For urban gardens, well-drained soil
• MM106 (adult size≈ 3.5m): Versatile, suitable for various types of floors
• M111 (adult size ≈ 4m): For large gardens, tolerant to various soils
• Franc (adult > size 5m): For extensive orchards, very hardy

Planting and Care

• Soil: All types, prefers cool, well-drained soils

History and origin

A Spanish variety cultivated since at least 1670, the White Apple tree of Spain has been present in Comminges since the beginning of the 19th century. Appreciated in the cantons of Salies, Aspet, and Saint-Gaudens, it is part of our local fruit heritage.

Note: Not to be confused with the Spanish Reinette, which is a different variety.
